Taking classes beyond confined walls

Image
( B. Ed Eng/Geo students with DFC module tutor) As everyone knows, learning Dzongkha is a must since it is Bhutan's national language and the primary means of communication. This year, I learned Dzongkha, which will definitely help me when I start working as a teacher. During this period, our DFC tutor, Sonam Gyeltsen, took us outside the classroom, and it was really cool to learn in a new setting. We looked at the outdoors and practical applications. We also heard about the difficulties he encountered on his educational path in this inspiring life story. It enhanced the excitement and engagement of learning.

Education for development

Image
Studying the Development of Bhutanese Education taught me important lessons about the importance of holistic education and the integration of traditional values and modern education. One of the most important lessons I learned was the importance of supporting the health and well-being of students. Bhutan’s approach recognizes that education is not only about academic achievement but also about personal development and well-being. This combination equips students with not only the knowledge and skills, but also the values and attitudes they need to lead successful lives. Another important lesson I learned was the value of incorporating traditional values into the learning process. Bhutanese education recognizes the country’s rich heritage and strives to preserve and promote it through education. By incorporating traditional values, customs and practices into the curriculum, students not only gain a deeper understanding of their culture, but also develop pride and respect for their her

Samtse tsechu

Bhutan is known for its unique culture and tradition to others among which the tsechu festival is one. It was amazing to attend the tsechu in Samtse for three days. I can only imagine how enchanting it was to witness the mesmerizing mask dances and beautiful ladies dancing on the ground. And receiving blessings from the lama has added such a spiritual touch to my experience. Interacting with different people and seeing everyone come together created a sense of unity and joy among Bhutanese people.

Mela at Barnahat

( Picture captured from big wheel) Going to the mela for the first time sounds like a blast! I had a great time playing all the fun games, trying out different food, and exploring the diverse shops. It was so exciting to experience all those new things in one place at a time in India. While riding on a big wheel I nearly fainted shouting on top of voice to stop rotating. Afterall, I finished all my stipend money for fun and the joy of experiencing new things.

Role of technology in modern education

Image
( English  geography students attending ICT class) The introduction of advanced technology is one of the remarkable innovations of humankind that has revolutionized education society. Technology has fundamentally changed the way the students and teachers approach education. The modern classroom is no longer confined to physical walls, instead technology has established a world of possibilities, shaping the learning experiences of students. From personalized learning to ever-evolving digital landscape, technology’s influence is both far-reaching and transformative. With the enhancement of technology, learning has become much more effective, fun and fruitful. The implementation of modern technology has drastically enhanced student learning as it has redefined the role of educators and provided access to educational resources. However, it has also exposed the negative impacts such as unequal access to resources.   The role of technology in the modern classroom has redefined the role

My visit to Dam Dum

Image
At Dam Dum bridge After my arrival here at Samtse I visited this beautiful place on Saturdays and Sundays to have a glance at beautiful nature and take a break from tight scheduled assignments submission. I was mesmerized by the captivating landscape. As I went for a walk, the sound of the flowing river filled the air, creating a soothing atmosphere. The scenery was breathtaking, with lush green grasses and a river flowing down the valley. Every time I visited the place, I decided to take a swim in the crystal-clear water. It was an unforgettable experience with my friends that truly immersed me in the beauty of nature.

Value of time

Image
Time "Value your precious time at the moment as we don't have a rewind button in life".   Time is a priceless and valuable gift from nature. However, we do not perceive the presence or worth of time until we become conscious and self-aware of it. I believe that time controls everything in the cosmos. From conception to death, at any stage and under all conditions. Time is an essential component of human life. The individual who recognizes the value of time works tirelessly to attain their objectives. Those who do not see the worth of time, on the other hand, pass on a chance. Certainly, it is a period when how we use and value our time will make a significant impact in our lives.

My Education Journey

Image
(At Jigme Sherubling Central School) My schooling journey began in Tokshingmang primary school, when I was six years old. This was a significant moment in my life as it laid the foundation of my education. I wholeheartedly thank my parents for their unconditional love and compassion. Working really hard under the hot scorching sun and stocking rain of summer and sacrifices that they have made to support my education.  Later I went to Dungtse Central School, where I had an opportunity to explore new subjects and develop my skills further. Moreover, I have developed my interest in games and sport and I particularly enjoyed participating in sporting activities and other co-curricular activities. Those periods have been filled with new experiences, friendships and challenges that helped to shape my character. Finally, I moved to Jigme Sherubling Central School at Khaling. A renowned school in the nation. Where I further honed my skills and knowledge in preparing for my future endeavo

Life at Samtse College of Education

Image
Samtse College of Education It was great excitement for me to join in samtse college of education and awakening my excitement to open up a whole journey full of possibilities and new learning to spark my creativity, spirituality and new socialization. I entered the college gate with great positive affirmations after the long and arduous journey. However, things seemed weird and ordinary for me with the humid climate and hotness of samtse. My stay at Samtse College reignited my curiosity to experience a different environment and also provoked my interest to explore more. I learned a lot of new knowledge from different module tutors and to stay in class and concentrate on learning for more than 2 hours during block periods was quite challenging for me. Now ordinary things have turned into an expectable great embrace for me and so far, the stay in college is very casual and smooth going. The class in college is fully engaged in intellectual discussion and it is not grounded like learn

Reflection on oral presentation

Image
Oral Presentation Doing oral presentation on mobile gaming in Bhutan, I felt the sense of excitement and nervousness. It was exciting and enjoyable because I had the opportunity to share my knowledge and ideas upon our individual group topic with my friends. However, there was a bit of fear in my mind in front of familiar faces and module tutor mam, assessing based on individual presentation and criteria from the corner of the classroom. I wanted to do my best and make sure messages are conveyed clearly and confidently. I learned some valuable tips for giving effective presentations and realized the importance of preparation. Practicing multiple times allowed me to deliver my presentation smoothly however I received feedbacks form tutor and peers about mumbling while speaking. Additionally, I learned the significance of visual aids such as slides to keep audience engaged and enhance their understanding. Overall, doing oral presentation was fun and memorable one.

My reflection on academic skills module

Image
( Attending academic skills module class) During this academic skills module, I learned about academic dishonesty, academic reading, writing and doing oral presentations. In academic reading I discovered some strategies to improve critical thinking and interpret academic texts effectively. When it comes to academic writing, I explored my skills in structuring essay paragraphs, using citations and creating analysis. It is crucial to share our ideas with evidence from reliable sources. Module also taught me the importance of academic integrity and addressing academic dishonesty. Learning about plagiarism and how to avoid it in writing by citing sources and giving credit to authors was fun. I gained valuable insights on note taking and doing oral presentations like organizing our thoughts, communicating clearly and noting important details. Additionally, I learned about technology integration in education through different online platforms.
